The Year of the Weddings...followed by "The Year of the Divorce"?

The long week-end fast approaches. How I wish it was a four-day week-end instead. Maybe I should have taken Friday off. However that would mean I'd have to use a vacation day which this year are all dedicated to weddings. So I can't afford to. I need all the vacation days I can get. I really am stretching myself too thin but it's one of those things that can't be helped.

This is the 'Year of the Wedding'. My friends and I are late bloomers as far as marriage goes where I come from. Unfortunately for me they have all decided to get married in the same year. I'm tentatively calling next year "The year of the child" or "the year of the divorce" I'm not sure yet which it will be. So with three weddings for sure and one possible in addition I don't have any vacation days to spare.

So as next year I turn the big 30 I'm planning some sort of major trip for myself. I deserve something for making it this far. On the cusp of their 3rd decade my friends are giving themselves the gift of marriage so I think I deserve something too. And since I can't just make the perfect man appear and love me I'm giving myself a trip. It's going to be something cool and unusual.

My director at the office went on a cruise to Antarctica which I think would be totally cool. However, many of my friends think that if you go on vacation it should be somewhere warm. I on the other hand, prefer to go interesting places and I'm not really a beach person. I'll put out a general invitation to those who want to go and the ones that are really interested will do something about it. The rest, well I don't really care. If all else fails I'll ask my friend Jean or Ann to go with me and they probably would. They are adventurous.

This week-end will be spent in Montreal with Joe, Lisa and Greg. It's going to be so much fun because the three of them are fantastic people. I'm so glad they were all able to go. I've spent the week making CDs for the long trip. I've got my 90s collection which I originally made for Karen four years ago. Plus I have plans for a sing along CD which has everyone's favourite sing along songs. I will also put together some mixes.

My camera is raring to go. I haven't posted any new pictures in a long time. I even took some last week-end and I haven't put them up yet. They are really neat too. I'll have to make up for it after this week-end.
